Smurfit-Stone Container {Ticker: SSCC, Closing Price: USD 5.97, Target Price: USD 15.00, Recommendation: Buy}.

Trade sources are reporting that Smurfit-Stone Container will raise containerboard prices by $55/ton on July 1. Smurfit is currently the #1 containberboard player with roughly 20% market share. The announcement comes shortly after news that Georgia-Pacific announced the same $55/ton price hike (see our note published earlier today).  The proposed hike is a bit larger than the $40-50/ton increases that are typical in the containerboard market.
