BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH – Charles K. Parsons

Charles ParsonsCharles K. Parsons is a Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Georgia Tech College of Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prof. Parsons received his Ph.D. in 1980 from the University of Illinois in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. He has been on the faculty of the Georgia Tech College of Management since 1979. He has also performed in various administrative capacities in the College including Acting Associate Dean and Director of the Ph.D. Program. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational behavior and human resource management. His special teaching interests are 1) human resource management in the legal and regulatory environment and 2) strategic human resource management. He has also recently begun teaching a course on International Human Resource Management. His research interests include employment interviewing, the impact of performance feedback on employee motivation and performance, and person-organization fit.

He has received research funding from the Army Research Institute to investigate the impact of individual differences in performance feedback preferences on motivation and performance. He is currently working on a research project on workplace transformation in the pulp and paper industry, which is funded under the Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies.
