Accommodations

Hotels: Hotel accommodations are not included in the course fee but CPBIS has negotiated a special rate of $109 +tax per night, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Midtown, 5 minutes away by car from the course location.  Parking is free. To request the group discount rate of $109/night plus taxes, use the code GTPC.  This rate will be available for the week (June 1-6, 2008).  The cut-off date is: Wednesday, Monday, May 19, 2008.

We also have hotel accommodations at the rate of $115 + tax per night, at the Hotel Indigo, which is approximately 10 minutes away by car from the course location. This rate will be available for the week (June 1 – 7, 2008.  The cut-off date is Monday, May 19, 2008.  Parking is $18 a day with in and out privileges. Ask for the GTTC block to get the discounted rate.

Although we do not have a negotiated rate for the Georgia Tech Hotel, The Regency Suites Hotel, and the Hotel Indigo, we do have a negotiated GT University rate which, in most cases, will be honored.  Just inform the operator that you are attending a course for the week on campus when you register.

Hotel Indigo, 683 Peachtree Street, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30308.  Phone: 404-564-0923.  This hotel is closer to downtown Atlanta and is within walking distance in either direction of numerous eateries and entertainment venues. The Georgia Tech rate is: TBD.

Georgia Tech Hotel, 800 Spring Street, Atlanta, GA 30308. Phone 404-347-9440. The Georgia Tech rate is:  $164/night plus tax.  Parking is $10/day.

Regency Suites Hotel, 975 West Peachtree Street at 10th Street, NW, Atlanta, GA  30309.  Phone 404-876-5003 or 1-800-642-3629.  The Georgia Tech rate is:  $129/night plus tax.

Transportation: Please arrange for your own transportation between the Atlanta Airport and the hotel (typical cab rate is $26 one way). Shuttle service will be provided each morning between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. from the hotel to the course site and back to the hotel each evening between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. When you check in at the hotel please inform the desk clerk that you will be using the shuttle during your stay.

Location: For those arriving directly from the airport on Monday morning, the course location is at the Global Learning and Conference Center of the Georgia Institute of Technology, at Technology square on the Georgia Tech campus, 84 5th Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30308. Phone number: 404-385-6203.  The course starts at 8:00 am on Monday and ends around 4:30 pm on Friday.

Lunches: Lunches (Monday-Friday) are included in the course fee.

Dinners: Midtown offers a great choice of restaurants, some of them within walking distance from the Marriott Courtyard, the Hotel Indigo, The Regency Suites Hotel, and the Georgia Tech hotels, with a wide variety of cuisine from around the world.

Some of our suggestions are: Italian (Veni Vidi Vici, on 14th Street across the interstate), Mexican (Zocalo, Piedmont and 10th St., 1 mile away from the hotel), Japanese (Nickiemoto's, Piedmont and 10th St., 1 mile away from the hotel), Indian (A Touch of India, Peachtree and 11th St., 1/2 mile away), Traditional American (Front Page News, Crescent Av., 1/2 mile away); The Vortex, Peachtree St. and 8th St., 1.5 miles away), and Vegetarian (The Flying Biscuit, Piedmont and 10th St., 1 mile away). 

To taste real Southern food and Southern hospitality, go to Mary Mac's Tea Room (Ponce de Leon Av. and Myrtle Av.; 2.5 miles away. Driving directions: From the Marriott Courtyard hotel, take Techwood Dr., then turn left on 10th St. (you go East), turn right on Juniper St. (drive South on Juniper 1 to 1.5 mile) and turn left on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

For social time, choose from three good neighborhood pubs: The Prince of Wales, (Piedmont and 14th St., 1 mile away), The Leopard Lounge (12th St. near Crescent Av., 1/2 mile away) and Front Page News (Crescent Av., 1/2 mile away).

For sports fans, a good sports bar with wide TV screens is: Jock's and Jill's, (Peachtree St. and 10th St., 1 mile away).
